Downtown Redevelopment

The Silsbee Economic Development Corporation has identified downtown revitalization as a priority within its goals and objectives. With the Pines Theatre winning the Texas Downtown Association’s Enduring Business of the Year in 2005 and a $600,000 library expansion project about to begin, the board feels like the opportunity is right to develop a revitalization plan. A meeting was held with downtown merchants and property owners to discuss needs of downtown.  As a result of this meeting, Silsbee Economic Development Corporation asked the City of Silsbee make application through Texas Department of Agriculture through its Downtown Revitalization Program.  If awarded, additional parking will be added to the downtown area since this is the area most merchants felt needed to be addressed.

Silsbee Economic Development Corporation has approved assistance to the Silsbee Public Library expansion project.  This assistance will go to upgrading outdoor electricity to allow expansion of downtown festivals and to create decorative lighting that will compliment lighting at the Silsbee Veterans Park.
